Rustic Interior Design at the 12th Century Oil Mill
“Down to earth” that was our first impression when we see this amazing building, which is located in Extramadura. We said that it’s down to earth because of its simplicity and it remains that way. However the words “down to earth” have a special meaning more than just being “simple” and “the way it is”, to us this place has its historic value and beside that every nook and crannies at this house are really made original, not mark up like other building has. This rustic house was made by Jeronimo monks during the 12th century which were later it became an oil mill.
So the owner did some work to rehab this building and transform it into proper living space. The owners trust the work to Ricardo Elizondo. It is a massive architecture job he received and after all this building was being neglect for almost two decades. What the architect did was to leave the genuine experiences there. Remaining rustic was the option as it will look classic and coating the walls after doing a bit of cleaning will certainly get the job done shiny and perfect. The only thing that was changed was the flooring.
Characterized with strong austere lines and natural materials makes this historic house look fantastic rustic. Now if you got the thin red line then you will notice that designing a house does not need to be that expensive as you can leave the materials the way they are and the most important thing in a living is to keep things furnished and enjoyable to live with all the modern appliances.
